==History== Salisbury was laid out by Joseph Markley in 1794, with Douglas Baker as the surveyor.<ref name="WatermanWatkins">{{cite book|title=History of Bedford, Somerset and Fulton Counties, Pennsylvania|url=https://archive.org/details/pa-bedford-somerset-fulton-1884-waterman|year=1884|publisher=Waterman, Watkins & Co.|location=Chicago|page=[https://archive.org/details/pa-bedford-somerset-fulton-1884-waterman/page/n734 550]}}</ref> Peter Shirer and Martin Weimer built the first house, and Peter Shirer was also the first storekeeper.<ref name="WatermanWatkins" /> Peter Shirer and Peter Welfley added more lots to the town ''circa'' 1814, John Smith added more in about 1850, and the Beachy family added still more in 1870.<ref name="WatermanWatkins" /> The town, located on the Turkey Foot Road,<ref>L. McKenzie. βIn Search of the Turkey Foot Road.β Mount Savage Historical Society, 2010.</ref> was organized as a borough in 1862.<ref name="WatermanWatkins" /> In 1998, Salisbury was hit by two [[Fujita scale|F3]] [[tornado]]es on [[Late-May 1998 tornado outbreak and derecho|May 31]] and [[1998 Eastern tornado outbreak|June 2]].
