== Early life ==
Roland Freisler was born on 30 October 1893 in [[Celle]], [[Lower Saxony]], the son of Julius Freisler (b. 1862<ref>{{Cite web|title=Digital Archives of the Regional Archives in Opava|url=http://digi.archives.cz/da/permalink?xid=be856738-f13c-102f-8255-0050568c0263&scan=e3e55029b1234c53a4e2bd72240c1310|access-date=8 July 2020|website=digi.archives.cz}}</ref> in [[Kujavy|Klantendorf]], [[Moravia]]), an engineer and teacher, and Charlotte Auguste Florentine Schwerdtfeger (1863–1932).<ref name="hessen">{{cite web |url=http://www.lagis-hessen.de/pnd/118693093 |title="Freisler, Karl Roland" in: Hessische Biografie |date=7 September 2012| access-date=29 September 2013}}</ref> He was baptized as a [[Protestant]] on 13 December 1893.<ref>{{cite book |last= Koch|first= H.
