==Geography==
The township is in north-central Macomb County. The village of [[Romeo, Michigan|Romeo]] touches the northwest corner of the township. The city of [[Richmond, Michigan|Richmond]] is {{convert|12|mi}} to the northeast, and [[Mount Clemens, Michigan|Mount Clemens]], the Macomb [[county seat]], is the same distance to the south. The township is within [[Metro Detroit]], with [[downtown Detroit]] {{convert|32|mi}} to the south-southwest.

According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Ray Township has a total area of {{convert|36.6|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|0.1|sqmi|1}}, or 0.26%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/> The township is fully within the [[Clinton River (Michigan)|Clinton River]] watershed, flowing to [[Lake St. Clair]] east of Mount Clemens.
