== History == Prattsburgh was formed from the town of [[Pulteney, New York|Pulteney]] in 1813.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Pulteney History β Town of Pulteney|url=https://pulteneyny.com/history/|access-date=June 17, 2021|website=pulteneyny.com}}</ref> The Prattsburgh community is named after early settler Joel Pratt, who arrived around 1799 to purchase land.<ref>{{Cite web|last=kirkhouse|title=Join Us for a Walk Through Prattsburgh|url=https://www.the-leader.com/blogs/20180804/join-us-for-walk-through-prattsburgh|access-date=June 17, 2021|website=The Leader|language=en}}</ref> Settlers arrived in 1801. Clarke Publishing Company}}</ref> From c. 1889-1961 Prattsburgh was located on a railroad. The Kanona & Prattsburgh Railroad Company, the Kanona & Prattsburgh Railway Company, and the Prattsburgh Railway Corporation during the period operated an 11.44 single-track standard-gauge railroad from a connection with the Erie Railroad at [[Kanona, New York|Kanona]] to [[Prattsburgh (CDP), New York|Prattsburgh]]. Intermediate stations included Wheeler, Beans, and Stickneys.
