The Port Campbell National Park was dedicated on {{start date|1964|05|05|df=y}},<ref name=mgmtplan/> initially with {{convert|700|ha|acre}}, in order to protect the limestone formations on and near the coastline adjacent to the [[Great Ocean Road]].
