==Early life==

Hartweg's brother, [[Gotebald]], had been a canon of Eichstatt, then Provost of Speyer, Imperial Chancellor for Italy, and, from 1049 to 1063, Patriarch of Aquileia.<ref>{{cite book|editor=P.
