The term "{{lang|pl|złoty}}" is an [[adjective]] derived from the [[noun]] "{{lang|pl|złoto}}", which in the [[Polish language]] denotes [[gold]]. A [[literal translation]] of the currency's name would be "golden" or "the golden one".
