==History== === Pre-incorporation (pre-colonization β 1910) === The location of what is now the Village of Plandome was originally inhabited by [[Matinecock (tribe)|Matinecock]] [[Native Americans in the United States|Native Americans]].<ref name=":022">{{Cite web |title=Historical Background of Manhasset Bay |url=http://www.manhassetbayprotectioncommittee.org/historical_background.htm |access-date=January 12, 2025 |website=Manhasset Bay Protection Committee |publisher=}}</ref> These Native American inhabitants called the area Sint Sink, meaning "place of small stones."<ref name=":022" /><ref name="sintsink">{{Cite book |last1=Association |first1=New York State Historical |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=i9sTAAAAYAAJ&dq=%22Sint+Sink%22&pg=RA1-PA95 |title=Proceedings of the New York State Historical Association: ...
