==Geography==
Pine Prairie is located north of the center of Evangeline Parish. [[Louisiana Highway 13]] passes through the village, leading north {{convert|6|mi|0}} to [[Turkey Creek, Louisiana|Turkey Creek]] and south {{convert|11|mi}} to [[Mamou, Louisiana|Mamou]]. [[Ville Platte, Louisiana|Ville Platte]], the [[parish seat]], is {{convert|15|mi}} to the southeast.

In 1823 the area was the epicenter of an earthquake which was felt throughout the district.<ref>Brasseaux, Carl A., and Brian E. According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], Pine Prairie has a total area of {{convert|4.2|sqkm|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|0.03|sqkm|order=flip|2}}, or 0.61%, is water.<ref name="Census 2010"/> 

Pine Prairie Correctional Center is located in the northern part of the village.
