== Early life ==
Boone was born June 1, 1934, in [[Jacksonville]], to Margaret Virginia (née Pritchard) and Archie Altman Boone. He grew up in [[Nashville, Tennessee|Nashville]], where his family moved when he was two years old. He graduated in 1952 from [[Lipscomb Academy|David Lipscomb High School]] in Nashville. Boone primarily attended David Lipscomb College, later [[Lipscomb University]], in Nashville.
