Oshkosh was incorporated in 1910.<ref name="Oshkosh Nebraska"/>

On April 26, 1938, an estimated [[Fujita Scale|F5]] tornado struck near the city, disintegrating a school and killing 3 children; the tornado also destroyed two farms.
