==Geography==
Oakville is in the southeastern part of Watertown. It is bordered to the northwest by the [[Watertown (CDP), Connecticut|village of Watertown]] and to the south by the city of [[Waterbury, Connecticut|Waterbury]]. The [[Connecticut Route 8]] freeway forms the eastern edge of Oakville, with access from a half-exit at [[Connecticut Route 262]]. Oakville is {{convert|3|mi|0}} north of [[Interstate 84 (Pennsylvania–Massachusetts)|Interstate 84]] in Waterbury and {{convert|2|mi|0}} southeast of [[U.S. Route 6 in Connecticut|U.S. Route 6]].

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the Oakville CDP has a total area of {{convert|8.5|sqkm|order=flip}}, of which {{convert|0.1|sqkm|order=flip|2}}, or 1.06%, are water.<ref name="Census 2010"/> Steele Brook, a tributary of the [[Naugatuck River]], flows through Oakville, with a dam in the center of town forming Pin Shop Pond.
