==Geography==
Mountville is located in western Lancaster County at {{Coord|40|2|23|N|76|25|57|W|type:city}} (40.039797, -76.432433).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> [[U.S. Route 30 in Pennsylvania|U.S. Route 30]], a four-lane freeway, passes through the northern part of the borough, with access from College Avenue at the northeast edge of town. US 30 leads east {{convert|7|mi|0}} to the northern part of [[Lancaster, Pennsylvania|Lancaster]], the [[county seat]], and west {{convert|17|mi}} to [[York, Pennsylvania|York]]. [[Pennsylvania Route 462]] runs through the center of Mountville as Columbia Avenue; it leads east {{convert|6|mi|0}} to the center of Lancaster and west {{convert|5|mi|0}} to [[Columbia, Pennsylvania|Columbia]].

The west side of the borough is drained by Strickler Run, a westward-flowing direct tributary of the Susquehanna.
