==History== Minooka was established as a place in 1852 when the railroad was built through this area. It was incorporated as a village in 1869.<ref>[https://grundy.illinoisgenweb.org/history/minooka.php Genweb page on Grundy County history]</ref> The name "Minooka" is derived from a Native American word meaning "maple forest" or "good earth".<ref>{{cite web |last1=Gannett |first1=Henry |title=The origin of certain place names in the United States |url=https://archive.org/details/bub_gb_9V1IAAAAMAAJ/page/n209/mode/2up |publisher=Washington, Govt.
