==Early life==
Mehmet Ali Ağca was born on 9 January 1958 in [[Hekimhan]] in a poor Turkish peasant family.

As a youth, he became a petty criminal and a member of numerous street gangs in his hometown. He became a smuggler between Turkey and Bulgaria.
