Despite Agrippa's association with the family of [[Julius Caesar]], his elder brother chose the opposing side in the [[Caesar's civil war|civil wars]] of the 40s BC, fighting under [[Cato the Younger|Cato]] against Caesar [[Battle of Thapsus|in Africa]].
