A post office called Lyons has been in operation since 1837.<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.postalhistory.com/postoffices.asp?task=display&state=OH&county=Fulton | title=Fulton County | publisher=Jim Forte Postal History | access-date=January 25, 2016}}</ref> Lyons was also called "Morey's Corners", and under the latter name the village had its start in 1850 when a [[plank road]] was completed to that point.<ref>{{cite book|last=Aldrich|first=Lewis Cass|title=History of Henry and Fulton Counties, Ohio|url=https://archive.org/details/cu31924028848541|year=1888|publisher=D.
