==Geography==
Lula is located near the northern border of Coahoma County. [[U.S. Route 49#Mississippi|U.S. Route 49]] passes southwest of the town, and [[U.S. Route 61 in Mississippi|U.S. Route 61]] passes east of the town. US 49 leads northwest {{convert|10|mi}} to [[Helena, Arkansas]], while US 61 leads north {{convert|18|mi}} to [[Tunica, Mississippi|Tunica]]. Southbound, the two highways join and lead to [[Clarksdale, Mississippi|Clarksdale]], the Coahoma [[county seat]], {{convert|20|mi}} south of Lula.

On April 26, 2011, a tornado&mdash;part of the [[2011 Super Outbreak]]&mdash;traveled from [[Elaine, Arkansas]], to Lula.<ref name=Memphis>[http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=MEG&product=PNS&format=CI&version=2&glossary=0NWS] {{dead link|date=December 2015}}</ref> The tornado was rated [[Enhanced Fujita scale|EF0]], with estimated wind speeds of {{convert|75|mph|km/h kn|abbr=on}}.<ref name=Memphis/> The tornado's path of destruction was {{convert|200|yd|m}} wide and the tornado travelled a path of {{convert|21.5|mi|km}} along [[U.S. Route 61|Highway 61]].<ref name=Memphis/> The tornado ripped the roof off a church near Lula.<ref name=Memphis/>
