==History== The town of Logan was founded in 1859 by settlers [[Brigham Young]] sent to survey for the site of a fort near the banks of the [[Logan River (Utah)|Logan River]].<ref name="Utah History Encyclopedia"/> They named their new community "Logan" for Ephraim Logan, an early fur trapper in the area.<ref name="Utah History Encyclopedia"/> Logan was incorporated on January 17, 1866.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.mendonutah.net/history/cache_county/18.htm|title=An Early History of Cache Countyโ Early Logan City Government|website=mendonutah.net}}</ref> [[Brigham Young College]] was founded here on August 6, 1877 (and closed in 1926),<ref>{{cite web | title=Info | website=digital.lib.usu.edu | url=http://digital.lib.usu.edu/cdm/landingpage/collection/p16944coll4 | access-date=June 19, 2020}}</ref> and [[Utah State University]], then called the Agricultural College of Utah, was founded in 1888.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/utah-state-3677|title=Utah State University|work=usnews.com}}</ref> Brigham Young College, a college run by [[the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints]], was in Logan from 1878 to 1926. Its library and its papers were given to Utah State University when it ceased operating.{{cn|date=January 2024}} Logan's growth reflects settlement and postwar booms along with other changes incidental to conditions in the West.
