[[Mary Pannal]] of Ledston was executed in 1603 as an accused witch.

Ledston was historically a [[Township (England)|township]] in the ancient parish of [[Ledsham, West Yorkshire|Ledsham]] in the [[wapentake]] of [[Barkston Ash Wapentake|Barkston Ash]] in the [[West Riding of Yorkshire]].<ref>{{Genuki|county=WRY|Ledsham}}</ref> The township became a separate civil parish in 1866.<ref name=vob>{{cite vob|name=Ledston CP/Tn | url=https://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/unit/10443325#tab02| accessdate=1 January 2024}} </ref>  In 1974 Ledston was transferred to the [[City of Leeds]] in the new county of West Yorkshire.
