Kennard is located in eastern Houston County and is surrounded by [[Davy Crockett National Forest]]. State Highway 7 leads west {{convert|16|mi}} to [[Crockett, Texas|Crockett]], the [[county seat]], and northeast {{convert|37|mi}} to [[Nacogdoches, Texas|Nacogdoches]].

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters.
