==Geography==
Keithsburg is located in southwestern Mercer County at {{coord|41|6|0|N|90|56|14|W|type:city}} (41.100020, -90.937293).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is sited on the east bank of the Mississippi River, downstream from the inlet of Pope Creek.

Keithsburg is {{convert|16|mi}} southwest of [[Aledo, Illinois|Aledo]], the Mercer [[county seat]], and {{convert|27|mi}} northwest of [[Monmouth, Illinois|Monmouth]]. The closest highway crossings of the Mississippi are {{convert|26|mi}} to the south, at [[Burlington, Iowa]], and {{convert|25|mi}} to the north, at [[Muscatine, Iowa]].

According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], Keithsburg has a total area of {{convert|3.181|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, of which {{convert|2.56|sqmi|sqkm|2}} are land and {{convert|0.621|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, or 19.53%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>

The Keithsburg Division of the [[Mark Twain National Wildlife Refuge Complex]] lies north of Keithsburg.
