==Early life and activism== Rubin was born in [[Montreal]], Quebec. He and his parents and sister moved to [[Granada Hills, California]], a neighbourhood of [[Los Angeles]], which has a large [[Jewish]] population. He became a United States citizen and served as a sergeant in the [[United States Air Force]].
