The county seat at [[Bellville, Texas|Bellville]] is {{convert|15.6|mi|km|1}} east-southeast on SH&nbsp;159 while [[Fayetteville, Texas|Fayetteville]] is {{convert|12.6|mi|km|1}} west-southwest on the same highway. [[New Ulm, Texas|New Ulm]] is {{convert|5.8|mi|km|1}} to the south on FM&nbsp;109, while a trip {{convert|13.3|mi|km|1}} to the north and northeast on the same road will take one to [[Texas State Highway 36|State Highway 36]] in [[Brenham, Texas|Brenham]].
