== History == Hubbard was named for Charles Hubbard, who was an Oregon settler in 1847. The railroad arrived in 1870 and a station was situated in the town.<ref>{{Cite book|title=Oregon geographic names|last=McArthur|first=Lewis A.|date=1992|publisher=Oregon Historical Society Press|others=McArthur, Lewis L.|isbn=0875952364|edition=6th ed., rev. & enl.|location=Portland|oclc=25874046}}</ref> The city made the news when former President of the United States Donald Trump, as a [[write-in candidate]], won a seat on the board of the Hubbard Rural Fire Protection District in 2023 via a dice-roll [[tiebreaker]] over four other write-ins. However, since he didn't live in or own property in the district, he was excluded from the board.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Poehler |first1=Bill |title=Former US President Donald Trump wins election, for a rural fire district in Oregon |url=https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/politics/2023/06/27/donald-trump-wins-election-oregon-fire-district-write-in-tiebreaker/70359193007/ |access-date=June 28, 2023 |work=Statesman Journal |date=June 27, 2023}}</ref>
