Based on the stand-up comedy of [[Tim Allen]], ''Home Improvement'' made its debut on [[American Broadcasting Company|ABC]] on September 17, 1991,<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/home-improvement/episodes-season-1/100210 |title=Home Improvement Season 1 episodes |work=TVGuide.com |access-date=January 7, 2012}}</ref> and was one of the highest-rated sitcoms for almost the entire decade. Beginning in season 2, ''Home Improvement'' began each episode with a [[cold open]], which features the show's logo during the teaser.
