==Early life== [[File:Anna Mary Robertson - 1860s.jpg|thumb|Anna Mary Robertson in the 1860s|left|240x240px]] Anna Mary Robertson was born in [[Greenwich (town), New York|Greenwich, New York]], on September 7, 1860; she was the third of ten children born to Margaret Shanahan Robertson and Russell King Robertson. She was raised with four sisters and five brothers. Her father ran a [[flax mill]] and was a farmer.<ref name=GSE /> She briefly attended a [[one-room school]].<ref name="NYT obit" /> That school is now the [[Bennington Museum]] in Vermont, which has the largest collection of her works in the United States.<ref>{{cite book|author1=Christina Tree|author2=Diane E.
