==Etymology==
The name 'Gorgon' is associated with the Ancient Greek adjective {{transliteration|grc|gorgós}} ({{wikt-lang|grc|γοργός}}), which, of an eye or look, means 'grim, fierce, awesome, dazzling',<ref>''The Cambridge Greek Lexicon'' svv.
