==Early life== [[File:Antoinette_Gabrielle_Charpentier_Danton.jpg|thumb|left|[[Antoinette Gabrielle Charpentier]], wife of Danton]] Danton was born in [[Arcis-sur-Aube]] ([[Champagne (province)|Champagne]] in northeastern France) to Jacques Danton, a respectable, but not wealthy lawyer, and Madeleine Camus.
