==History== The [[Bowman-Zirkle Farm]], [[Campbell Farm (Edinburg, Virginia)|Campbell Farm]], [[Clem-Kagey Farm]], [[Edinburg Historic District]], [[Edinburg Mill]], [[Dr. Christian Hockman House]], [[Lantz Mill]], and [[John Miley Maphis House]] are listed on the [[National Register of Historic Places]].<ref name="nris">{{NRISref|version=2010a}}</ref> Before becoming incorporated in 1852, Edinburg was also previously known by the names of Shryock and Stony Creek.<ref name="vagenweb">{{cite web|url= http://vagenweb.org/shenandoah/shenformed.html |title= Formation of Shenandoah County Virginia |date= June 1, 2004 |website= VAGenWeb |access-date=March 20, 2018}}</ref> The name "Shryock" was used by [[Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1792β1862)|Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach]] in 1825 to describe Edinburg as he passed through the Shenandoah Valley.<ref name=shryock>{{cite book |last=Bernard |first=Karl, Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach |date=1828|title=Travels through North America, during the years 1825 and 1826 |url=https://archive.org/details/travelsthroughno12bern |location=Philadelphia |publisher=Carey, Lea & Carey |page= 190}}</ref>
