==Early life== Steel was born Danielle Fernandes Dominique Schuelein-Steel in New York City to a German father and a Portuguese mother. Her father, John Schuelein-Steel, was a [[German-Jewish]] immigrant and a descendant of owners of [[Löwenbräu]] beer.
