==History== Crockett County was formed in 1871 from portions of Haywood, Madison, Dyer and Gibson counties. It is named in honor of [[David Crockett]], frontier humorist, soldier, Tennessee state legislator and U.S. congressman, and [[Battle of the Alamo|defender of the Alamo]].<ref name=tehc /><ref>{{cite book | url=https://archive.org/details/bub_gb_9V1IAAAAMAAJ | title=The Origin of Certain Place Names in the United States | publisher=Govt.
