As with the city, its name is subject to the [[Derry/Londonderry name dispute]], with the form "Londonderry" generally preferred by [[Unionism in Ireland|unionists]] and "Derry" by [[Irish nationalism|nationalists]]. Unlike with the city, however, there has never been a County Derry.
