== Geography ==
According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the CDP has a total area of {{convert|8.4|km2|disp=flip}}, of which {{convert|8.3|km2|disp=flip}} is land and {{convert|0.1|km2|disp=flip|2}}, or 0.88%, is water.<ref name="Census 2010" />

Copiague is approximately {{convert|35|mi}} east of [[Manhattan]] and {{convert|70|mi}} west of [[Montauk, New York|Montauk Point]].<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|accessdate=April 23, 2011|date=February 12, 2011|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is bordered by [[Amityville, New York|Amityville]] to the west, [[North Amityville, New York|North Amityville]] to the north, [[Lindenhurst, New York|Lindenhurst]] to the east, and the [[Great South Bay]] to the south.

South of [[Montauk Highway]] (Merrick Road), Copiague is divided into three major peninsulas:

* The southwestern peninsula is known as Amity Harbor and is served by the Amityville Post Office.
* The central peninsula is known as [[Copiague Harbor, New York|Copiague Harbor]] and is served by the Copiague Post Office.
* The southeastern peninsula is known as American Venice and is served by the Lindenhurst Post Office.
