The first Constitution of the People's Republic of China was declared in 1954. The current Constitution was declared in 1982,<ref name=":Laikwan">{{Cite book |last=Laikwan |first=Pang |title=One and All: The Logic of Chinese Sovereignty |date=2024 |publisher=[[Stanford University Press]] |isbn=9781503638815 |location=Stanford, CA |doi=10.1515/9781503638822}}</ref>{{Rp|page=82}} after two intervening versions enacted in 1975 and 1978. The 1982 Constitution expunges almost all of the rhetoric associated with the [[Cultural Revolution]] originally inserted in 1975.
