== History == Condon was the southern terminus of the [[Columbia River and Oregon Central Railroad|Condon Branch]] of the [[Union Pacific Railroad]].<ref name=OGN>{{Cite OGN|7th|page=224}}</ref> In 1883, a local homesteader named Potter [[plat]]ted the land around a [[spring (hydrology)|spring]] on his property.<ref name=OGN/> The spring, which emerged from a bed of black [[basalt]], was known to pioneer ranchers in the area as ''Summit Springs''.<ref name="HistoryCentralOregon">{{cite book |last=Shaver|first=F. Condon, a member of the firm, was a nephew of Oregon geologist [[Thomas Condon]].<ref name=OGN/> Condon and Cornish sold lots in the [[townsite]] and in 1884, resident David B. Trimble applied for a post office and became its first postmaster.<ref name=OGN/> He named the post office Condon after Harvey C.
