==History== Canby is named for [[Edward Canby|Edward Richard Sprigg Canby]],<ref name=OGN>{{Cite OGN|7th|page=155}}</ref> a [[American Civil War|Civil War]] general who was later killed in the [[Modoc War]] by [[Kintpuash|Captain Jack]] and his group of warriors.
