Bergenfield was formed on the basis of a referendum held on June 25, 1894, from portions of [[Englewood Township, New Jersey|Englewood Township]] and [[Palisades Township, New Jersey|Palisades Township]].<ref>[https://bergenfield.com/history History], Borough of Bergenfield.
