According to the [[United States Census Bureau|U.S. Census Bureau]], Allouez Township has a total area of {{convert|54.69|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, of which {{convert|54.62|sqmi|sqkm|2}} is land and {{convert|0.07|sqmi|sqkm|2}} (0.13%) is water.<ref name="CENS" />

The township is in western Keweenaw County, on the northwest side of the [[Keweenaw Peninsula]]. It is bordered to the south by [[Calumet Charter Township, Michigan|Calumet Charter Township]] in [[Houghton County, Michigan|Houghton County]], to the southeast by [[Sherman Township, Keweenaw County, Michigan|Sherman Township]] and to the east by [[Houghton Township, Michigan|Houghton Township]] in Keweenaw County, and to the northwest by [[Lake Superior]].  The [[Black Creek Nature Sanctuary]] is also located within the township.
