==Early life==
Alexander Chapman Ferguson<ref name=":3">{{cite web |title=Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson |url=http://www.mufcinfo.com/manupag/managers/mangers_pages/ferguson_alex.html|publisher=mufcinfo.com|access-date=12 July 2011}}</ref> was born at his grandmother's home on Shieldhall Road in the [[Govan]] district of [[Glasgow]] on 31 December 1941, the son of Elizabeth (née Hardie) and Alexander Beaton Ferguson.
