He is accompanied by his brothers, [[Henry I of Bavaria|Henry I]] (duke of [[Duchy of Bavaria|Bavaria]]), [[Bruno the Great|Bruno I]], and [[Conrad, Duke of Lorraine|Conrad the Red]] (duke of [[Lotharingia]]). [[Abd al-Rahman III|Abd ar-Rahman's]] force, led by prime minister Ahmad ibn Said, besieges the Fatimid port of Tunis, which purchases its safety through a huge sum.
